Recent update released to kill background apps on Nokia smartphones

In spite of using Google’s services for Android updates on Nokia smartphones, Nokia used app-killer services of Evenwell for battery optimization. The Nokia customers had a lot of complaints regarding this feature of Nokia smartphones. As per, Nokia was the third worst among the mobile phone manufacturers to use this feature. The company has started making improvements on this front by taking necessary steps to disable the Evenwell service in their devices. HMD Global has finally decided to do away with the app-killing service altogether and allow the Adaptive Battery System of the Android OS to manage the battery optimization.

The decision regarding the discontinuation of Evenwell app-killer service in Nokia smartphones was disclosed in a new post in the Nokia Community. HMD Global explained the reason for making this change and also the reason to use Evenwell service earlier. It is mentioned that there was not option to manage battery performance in Android Phones before Adaptive Battery System was released in Android 9 Pie version. Now, since the latest Android version is providing the Adaptive Battery System, Evenwell services are no longer required for Nokia smartphones.
